Kaohsiung Fisherman's Wharf

Half of the coastline in Kaohsiung has been developed as port areas. However, due to the development of automated equipment and IT industry, and because Singapore and the Mainland China's coast cities have taken the place of Kaohsiung as important Asian ports, many unused warehouses in Kaohsiung has been remodeled into a cultural park and shopping areas. Since 2002, warehouses around Sizihwan and National Sun Yat-sen University had been leased to the private sector. Exotic cuisine, street performance, and bars loved by citizens pop up in the place, which was known as Fisherman's Wharf. However, since the leases expired at the end of the 2014, the lively atmosphere has no longer existed. Yet the government has promised to recruit new merchants as soon as possible, and we hope to see people reveling along the seashore in the near future.
