Old warehouses are turning into new age art centers around the world. They were usually huge in space and the surrounding is good for art design for they were abandoned for a long time. This quality keeps the elements original for creating new art forms. At Kaohsiung Harbor pier 2, collision is a driving force.

The slogan of The Pier-2 Art Center clearly defines the character of the area. The buildings were built in 1973. It was deserted after sometime and was revived in 2002 by the government and local artists. They built the area with the goal of introducing art forms of being forefront, experimental, and creative. There are usually a dozen of exhibitions, activities, and festivals going on. Furthermore, there are local art saloons and studios with artists creating on the spots and some are willing to interact with visitors. If you are an indie rock lovers, you find the right place! There are performances here every weekend. The success also brings big names such as Pasadena International Group to open a restaurant here. The restaurant also provides meal sets with guided tours to walk you around the neighborhood. The famous Rhythm & Hues Studios who creates the visual special effects in “The Lord of the Ring” and “Life of Pi” also set a branch here.

Get your cameras ready, put on your sneakers and let’s have a journey full of surprises and fun!
