Surfing Lesson

Attraction stories

Even though Taiwan is an island surrounded by the ocean on four sides, local people are often discouraged to participate in water activities such as surfing and scuba diving due to traditional conservative beliefs on supernatural beings, especially the water spirits. Some years ago, people started to figure out that water is not scary at all and that surfing is one of the most rewarding experiences one can ever have. The wonderful eastern Taiwan happens to be home to some popular surfing spots such as Jichi, Qixingtan, Baxian Cave, Donghe, Jinzun, and many more!

However, without the guidance of a professional coach, please don’t go surfing alone as the strong waves and razor-sharp coral reefs can be quite dangerous. The northeast monsoon in winter might bring very high sea waves that challenge even the most experienced surfers. Beginners are advised to start from the steady waves in summer, and those who would like to try surfing on the magnificent waves of the Pacific Ocean may sign up for a half-day or full-day surfing lesson.

Notice:

Beginners are advised to start from the steady waves in summer (from June to September). If having a wetsuit, you can go surfing all year around.

Prices of surfing lessons:

A half-day lesson (4 hours): TWD1,400, (the minimum number of participants required is three)

A full-day lesson (8 hours): TWD2,000 (lunch included) (the minimum number of participants required is two)

The prices above include surfing boards, wetsuits, transportation, professional coaches, and insurance. Pregnant women and those who suffer cardiovascular diseases and other chronic diseases are prohibited from participating for their own safety.

Other participants might join you for the lesson. But no worries, the ratio of participants to coach is fixed. Please contact us if you want to book a private surfing lesson.

Avoid bringing any electronic devices and valuable belongings with you during the lesson. The coach would take photos of you with a waterproof camera.

Bring a change of cloths, towels, slippers or sandals, swimwear, sunblock and goggles (if needed). Portable tents are available to change clothes.

The company reserves the right to cancel or reschedule any surf lessons at any time due to inclement weather patterns, extreme currents or rip conditions in the surfing zone. Lessons will be rescheduled by Kahalu’u Bay Surf & Sea at no charge if such instances occur.
