Four-Generation Farmer

Attraction stories

Four-Generation Farmer is a no-choice restaurant hidden in the countryside of Hualien. The owner renovated this traditional courtyard house in which he grew up yet retained its original layout. Today, vintage tables and chairs made from split driftwood logs are set up for dining and are reminiscent of everyone’s childhood spent at grandparents’ country house.

The chef chooses for you based on the number of diners and the available ingredients on site. The nostalgic tastes are what keep the loyal patrons coming back for. The Hakka braised pork knuckles retains the chewy texture with bits of meat left on for a tasty, natural meat flavor. Light yet flavorful, the tender pork literally melts in your mouth as you bite in. The alfalfa sprout & lobster salad is adorned with roselle and topped with a mayonnaise-based dressing. The appetizing Taiwanese omelette with dried radish is rich, but not greasy; seasoned, but not overly salty. A nice platter of fruits and a pot of homemade tea will then put a healthy end to the hearty meal. To the eyes, pockets and taste buds, the price is as attractive as the food that’s dished up. Four-Generation Farmer is certainly one of the most competitively priced restaurants in Hualien.
