Wenhuacheng Beef Noodle

Attraction stories

When thinking of Hsinchu snacks, it is either meatballs (貢丸) or rice noodles (米粉) that comes to mind for most. But for some real food connoisseurs, Zhubei’s Wenhuacheng Beef Noodle restaurant is much more worthy of recommendation. With its rich beef soup, chewy noodles, quality fresh meat, and, consistent with the characteristic Hsinchu style, its beef meatball addition to the soup, the level of yum quickly outweighs those restaurants nominated in the Taipei Beef Noodle Festival. In addition, braised pork rice (魯肉飯) drizzled with scallops and thin noodles are also full of flavor. But what is even more amazing is the boiled beef and Beef Rice in Hot Pot (鍋燒牛肉飯). It is not just the tendons which are enjoyably chewy, but also that their taste is particularly flavorful, especially when topped with a sauce and rice. This is a production method that is little seen in other beef noodle shops.

In addition to the beef noodles that are known far and wide, the star pet animals outside the entrance and the quaint interior design are the reasons that many locals love to come and dine at Wenhuacheng Beef Noodle. The pig who lives in his own little cabin outside the door is always able to attract children's attention, as is the noisy parrot who is known to shout at any time. These animals succeed at amusing the waiting customers, such that no one can be bored while queuing during the busy dining time. The thing that most grabs your eye when you go inside would have to be calabash (葫蘆) hanging from the ceiling, as well as the walls full of pig dolls and photos of celebrities from all over Taiwan. These decorations give customers a good idea of the hard work and high standard of this restaurant. Anyone who is in Zhubei cannot miss Wenhuacheng Beef Noodle!
