Meet Ms. U and Mr. K, a vibrant couple from the UK who cherish the world through two to three major international trips each year. For their very first visit to Taiwan, they sought more than just a vacation—they wanted an experience that felt personal and profound. With only six days to explore, they entrusted us with their blank canvas, and it was our honor to paint a journey that turned their first visit into a lifelong memory.

Deep Slow Travel Without the Packing: A British Couple’s 5-Day Tailor-Made Northern Taiwan Journey

Can we see the best of Northern Taiwan without moving hotels every day?" This was the challenge posed to us by Ms. U and Mr. K. As seasoned travelers, they prefer "slow travel"—the art of truly soaking in a destination's soul. By designing a hub-and-spoke itinerary centered in Taipei, we created a seamless five-day experience where the couple could explore bustling cities and misty tea fields by day, and return to the comfort of the same familiar pillow by night.

Every itinerary we build is a reflection of our guests’ unique travel DNA. During our initial consultation with Ms. U and Mr. K, we focused on four key pillars to anchor their trip:

  1. First-Timer or Return Traveler? For first-time visitors like them, we prioritize a "Classic Route" that captures the iconic sights of Taiwan. For returning guests, we pivot toward niche destinations tailored to their specific style.
  2. Breadth vs. Depth: Taiwan is a small island, but it is densely packed with 22 counties and 368 townships. If a guest prefers deep exploration but has limited time, we avoid rushing across regions to ensure every moment is savored.
  3. Group Dynamics: Whether traveling solo, as a couple, or as a multi-generational family, the "pace" of the trip changes. For a couple like U and K, we prioritized comfort and intimate, conversational moments during transit.
  4. Special Interests: Whether it’s ancient temples, majestic mountain views, or hands-on local activities, we weave these specific passions into the fabric of the journey.

Ms. U and Mr. K chose to spend their five full days (excluding arrival and departure days) exploring Taipei and its outskirts, all while staying at the same hotel for maximum comfort.

Day 1: Old Souls & Modern Flavors

Airport pickup → The exquisite Lin Family Mansion and Garden → Exploring the historic Dihua Street → A delicious dive into Shilin Night Market.

Day 2: The Icons of Taipei

The treasures of the National Palace Museum → The grandeur of Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall → The spiritual atmosphere of Manka Longshan Temple → Topping it off at Taipei 101.

Day 3: Mountains, Sky Lanterns & Gold

The otherworldly rocks of Yehliu Geopark → Releasing sky lanterns at Shifen Old Street → The breathtaking Golden Waterfall → A nostalgic evening in the lanterns of Jiufen.

Day 4: Volcanic Peaks & Coastal Sunsets

The volcanic landscapes of Yangmingshan National Park (Qingtiangong/Xiaoyoukeng) → A leisurely walk through Tamsui Old Street → Sunset at Fisherman’s Wharf (or a healing soak in Beitou Hot Springs).

Day 5: Tea Fields & Emerald Lakes

Riding the Maokong Gondola with tea views → The stunning Thousand Island Lake and Bagua Tea Fields → A final feast at Shenkeng Old Street (Tofu Street).

Many travelers wonder if staying in one city limits their experience. In reality, with Taipei as your base, you are within a one-hour drive of incredibly diverse landscapes. Beyond the highlights visited by U and K, we also frequently design routes covering:

  • Tamsui & Beitou: A perfect blend of history, sunsets, and wellness.
  • North Coast & Keelung: Dramatic coastlines and the freshest seafood markets.
  • Yilan: A short drive through the tunnel to reach lush rice paddies and vast plains.

On their final evening, we treated Ms. U and Mr. K to a truly local experience: a traditional Master’s massage in a local night market, followed by a nighttime visit to Longshan Temple, where the intricate carvings glowed beautifully under the moonlight.

They told us this was their most memorable Asian trip yet, and we couldn't be more proud.
