Lintianshan

If you would like to experience the reminiscent atmosphere of forestry, Lintianshan (林田山) would be a great choice. This place is also known as "Eastern Jufen". In the 1940s, Lintianshan is one of the largest forestry centers in Taiwan, the small community has a population of over 2,000 in the heyday. After the government lifted the ban on lumbering, the township faded away.

In recent years, the remaining building was renovated into a forestry exhibition center by the official and becoming a popular attraction in eastern Taiwan. You can sea many old house with local resident, which is descendant from old logging era. In addition, the old factory, auditorium, dormitory as well as movie theater can be found here. Some of them exhibit wood culpture or become educative center. There is one of the building which was revonated into a cafe. Visitor can enjoy a cup of coffee at this old village.

The famous wood in Taiwan is "Formosan Cypress", here you can by some souvenir made of this precious wood at the local shop. The frangrance from the wood itself can last long time and drive away the annoying mosquitos.
