Dalin Train Station Stinky Tofu

Taiwan’s most famous (and most unusual!) smell of all would have to be stinky tofu. And if you are interested in knowing just which are the three most stinky, then Dalin Train Station Stinky Tofu in Chiayi would have to make the list, and could even be the best stinky tofu in the whole of the south of Taiwan. Although the store is small, and the lighting tends to be quite dim, the fact that the walls are patterned with the satisfied messages of customers and that you can smell it from far away is enough to prove its quality. Even though there are no tourist attractions nearby, and it is not situated in the city center, a lot of people are attracted here, especially by its impressive stink. The fried tofu and crisp pickled cabbage, with the love-it-or-hate-it coriander flavor on top, provides enough seasoning in itself, even without any other additions. But with the homemade chilli sauce, the flavour is improved so much that those who have been here will shout its praise to anyone they meet.
