Yupasu

In addition to tea-tasting at Alishan, you absolutely can’t miss its local aboriginal cuisine. As well as being given a privileged view of the beautiful valley below, you can also have an in-depth experience of the culinary culture of the Tsou people here at Yapusu. Even before walking into the restaurant, you will be greeted by the fragrance of mountain pork, which will make you salivate in anticipation. We recommend finding a seat with a good view of the scenery and settling in for a big bite of your chosen meal. As for what to choose, bamboo rice (竹筒飯), mountain pork and grilled sausages are absolutely the best choice if you are looking for flavor. Otherwise, if you want to taste the local fruit, you cannot miss the tree tomato (樹番茄) and bananas sold here. The jelly sold at Yapusu is made with natural ingredients, making it also worth a try. And if you are interested in vegetarian food, fried ferns (炒山蘇) is a good choice. But the most special of all are fried betel nut flowers. Although the dish doesn’t have much flavor itself, the feeling of the flowers in your mouth is fresh and cool. Inside the restaurant, there are also a number of Tsou traditional products on offer, such as hand-woven rattan baskets and aboriginal warrior knives , which make the perfect choice if you are after something to take back home as a souvenir. Yapusu also offers free WiFi for your convenience. Make sure you don’t forget to photograph the beautiful food and landscape at Yapusu. Upload it on social media and watch how your friends in distant lands envy your good fortune to come across Yapusu!
