Located in the Zhuqi Township of Chiayi, Shizhao Wufeng Temple is a stopover worth having while you drive along the Provincial Highway No. 18. It offers a breathtaking view of the sea of clouds that spreads out before you. When the night falls, the air is imbued with warm, orange-hued rays of light, almost as if washing away all the negative energy surrounding you. The Thai photographer Theerasak Saksritawee stunned the whole world with his work “Lost in Taiwan,” where he captured the awe-inspiring enchantment of the sea of clouds and the surrounding tea farm under the starry night sky in motion with Wufeng Temple right in the middle.
Besides the primary deity Wufeng, the temple also worships a number of other deities such as Guanshiyin Buddha, the Supreme Emperor of the Dark Heaven, the Marshal of the Central Altar, the God of Earth, the Goddess of Birth and more. Local worshippers often visit the temple to pray for blessings and mercy towards them. The temple happens to be located on the route of a group of five walking trails with a total length of five kilometers. Very well paved and maintained, each scenic trail is a delight for the eyes and to tread upon.
