Lijia Village

Attraction stories

More remote than any other Tsou Tribe (one of the officially recognized indigenous groups in Taiwan) clans in Alishan, Lijia Village hidden deep inside the County Highway 169 is a real gem known for its natural surroundings and the incredibly clear sky above the village, hence the name “Blue Tribe.” While the County Highway 169 is the only connection to the outside world, the village is hardly accessible, hence finely preserved, which has not been destroyed by development and remains a wonderland with a fair abundance of traditional indigenous culture and original wildlife species.

Before entering the village, you will notice a tribute stone laid by the roadside, serving as the guardian of the forests and mountains — it’s also believed to be the most powerful deity within the Alishan area. That probably explains why this place has been blessed with natural charms and wonders. Being free from traffic, pollution and crowds, Lijia Village is simply the finest place for a magical stargazing or firefly watching experience.
