Fenqihu Forest Trail

Over the years, Fenqihu has always been a popular spot for locals and travelers alike. Alishan National Scenic Area Administration therefore decided to make three new trails into the forest, which will link and interpret its landscape history, wildlife and forest management. Being easygoing and family-friendly, Fenqihu Forest Trail happens to be one of the best hiking routes in Alishan.

A lookout point is located along the trail, where you will be rewarded with a view overlooking the Fenqihu Old Street and the train station in the distance. On the other side of the trail are the remains of a Japanese shrine, only the mossy foundation of which and a part of the surrounding walls are still in place. It’s a clear indication of just how prevalent Japanese culture was in this area at the time.

Many guided eco-tours such as firefly watching and bird watching are provided by local hotels, allowing visitors the opportunity to enrich their learning with an abundance and diversity of natural and real life experiences in Fenqihu.
