Taichung is famous for its nightlife. There is more than just Fengjia Night Market, please understand. Zhongxiao Night Market is a place where a local from Taichung knows well. The market starts from Taichung Road (台中路) on Zhongxiao Road (忠孝路) and ends at Guoguang Road (國光路), so please pay attention to traffic walking around here.

This night market is focused on foods. There are no game stands or grocery stands here. It is close to Chunghsing University (中興大學) so you can see many students having dinner or late-night supper around the streets.

The history of Zhongxiao Night Market can be traced back to the food stands cluster at Japanese governing period. There are also several famous food brands originated here, like the famous Tripod King (鼎王麻辣鍋). The most famous foods here are sticky tofu (臭豆腐), oyster thin noodles (蚵仔麵線), and omurice (蛋包飯). There are also many drink stands providing fresh fruits or juice. The bean curd soup is also famous.

There are several Buddhism and Taoism temples around the area, so the vegetarian population supports almost ten stands and restaurants providing only vegetarian foods ranging from fried snacks, vege-steaks, noodles, dumplings, and even roasted snacks!
