West Side Harbor Line Bikeway西臨港線自行車道, located in Kaohsiung, extends 1260m. It is a waterfront bikeway surround by piers and wharf, passed by Takao Railway Museum, Fisherman's Wharf and Former Banana Warehouse, Pier-2 Art Center, Love Pier, Glory pier, Singuang Wharf and Dream mall. Only takes less than 1 hour by cycling leisurely without halting.
You can start from Takao Railway Museum. After Japanese colonized Taiwan, the Western Railway Line was construction and a huge harbor was built. There are two shore railway lines traveling to the trading port and the fishing port which the Japanese called Hamasen (It means the railway beside the sea). In the small museum, there are clothes which is station staff’s uniform for costume and photograph. The Pier-2 Art Center has many exhibition and some of them are free. Love Pier and Glory pier stand two side of Love River which has totally different feeling between day and night. In Singuang Wharf, there is a fountain and also a padding pool with non-slip tile on floor. Don’t worry about wetting your clothes. There are shower rooms beside. The ball in the middle symbolizes the Earth, three crane-shape points toward first harbor, second harbor and Zhongdao manufacturing areas for export. That means the Kaohsiung harbor play an important role in the world. Moreover, you can find many interesting buildings around bikeway. End of West Side Harbor Line Bikeway, having dessert in Dream mall is a good choice.
