Although Wu’s Ancestral Shrine might sound like a place that only the Wu family would be interested in, perhaps visited ceremoniously for the worshiping of ancestors, it is best known as a good location for enjoying the view of Taipei and seasonal oriental cherry blossoms. Situated on the hillside of Beitou, here you can see the suburbs of Tamsui and Shilin from a great height and distance. At dusk, you can even see the whole Taipei basin bathed in a beautiful golden sunshine before the city lights up with streetlights and illuminated buildings. Of course, given its wonderful view, Wu’s Ancestral Shrine has become a popular attraction site. The shrine itself is a grand palace-style building with an impressiveness that will make you envy the affluence of the Wu family when you rest in the beautiful Chinese pavilion. Every year around Chinese New Year, from the end of January to the beginning of February, the oriental cherry trees surrounding the shrine are in full blossom. Many couples and amateur photographers love to come here for the beauty of the flowers, bringing back lovely memories and pictures from the hillside to treasure forever.
