Since Fuju Temple opened here long ago, big crowds have been attracted to Liaoning Night Market. As a result, many vendors have also gathered here over the years, slowly forming themselves into a night market. Liaoning Night Market is not like other night markets in Taipei. Here, there are no fashionable clothing stands, and very few tourists, making it seem more like a wide American street than a bustling Taipei one! But Liaoning Night Market has some old favorite eateries, selling oyster omelet (蚵仔煎), migao (glutinous rice puddings that can be sweet or savory and are often eaten at Chinese New Year, 米糕), boiled squid (燙魷魚), tapioca (紅心粉圓), mochi (麻糬), braised food (滷味), oden cooking (關東煮) and fried rice and noodles (炒飯炒麵). Indeed, many of the stalls have been selling Taiwan’s traditional flavors for over thirty years at this spot. As well as street food, the seafood stir-fry shop here is also popular. With a line-up of live seafood for you to choose from, you can also specify your preferred cooking and serving method. Among the many choices available, Taiwanese style, Thai style and all sorts of other international flavors are on offer. Although Liaoning Night Market is not as lively as Shilin Night Market or Raohe Night Market, if you want to avoid the tourists but still want a taste of some great Taiwanese cuisine, then this is definitely a great place to come to satisfy your appetite.
