Located in the Jian Township of Hualien, Qunzhuo Eatery is owned by two Hakka ladies and has that Hakka flair inside out. An intriguing smell floating in the air lures every passerby in to try their signature dish — the braised pork knuckles.

The eatery has been pleasing local palates with authentic Hakka fares for more than ten years. After a long cooking over a low heat, the perfectly braised pork knuckles with bamboo shoots becomes incredibly tender and doesn't get any softer as it melts in your mouth. The Hakka stir-fry loaded with squids, celeries, lean and fat meat is another must-try, which is so appetizing that one can easily finish a steaming bowl of rice solely with this yummy specialty. Made with red sage highly valued for its roots in traditional Chinese medicine, the comforting chicken soup is ideal for those who pay close attention to their health and well-being.

Due to its inconspicuous location, first-time visitors might have difficulty spotting Qunzhuo Eatery. Even though it is not even located in the city center, loyal patrons still come all the way to try some of the best Hakka cuisine in town. If you are not planning to visit Miaoli a.k.a. northern Taiwan's great Hakka center, just so you know Qunzhuo Eatery in Hualien also provides the full range of Hakka dishes.
