No.185, Nanjing St., Hualien City, Hualien County 970, Taiwan (R.O.C.)

In Hualien, there are only a few historic breakfast spots that have been around for more than thirty years, and those who have “black tea” in their names are usually teeming with patrons such as Miaokou Black Tea, Meilun Black and Liming Black Tea.

Like Miaokou Black Tea, Liming Black Tea also sits on a street corner. The limited space boasts a nostalgic feel, from rustic chairs to tables and old newspapers with coverage of Liming Black Tea, creating a friendly and homey atmosphere for a relaxed, casual breakfast. The menu is one of a kind, where you can find basil omelettes (danbing) and instant noodles. Basil scallion pancakes are common enough, while basil omelettes are quite a rarity in Taiwan. Made out of a minimum of flour, eggs and a generous serving of fresh basil, the omelettes come out with a nice smooth texture. Topped with an overeasy egg, the instant noodles here are surprisingly light, whose perfect combination of runny yolk and soup is nothing ordinary.

Before leaving, don’t forget to bring some black tea bags with you as you will for sure miss the charming fragrance when you get home.
