For pious vegetarian Buddhists, it's not difficult to find a suitable place to eat. Dufu House, which has three branch stores in New Taipei City and Kaohsiung Zuoying High Speed Rail Station, features not only an antique decor but also a wide variety of vegetarian dishes. In addition to traditional Taiwanese cuisine, the restaurant offers Korean, Thai and Japanese cuisine, as well as spicy dishes and hot pots. For foreign tourists, they can order spaghetti and risotto, the food they're familiar with. Among all the various dishes, the Chinese tofu and mushroom dishes are the most recommended. Different from the stereotypes, which find vegan diet plain and tasteless, the restaurant brings out the delicious taste of food ingredients either by cooking them on iron griddles or by frying or steaming. If you are taking the high speed rail in Kaohsiung and you're not in a hurry, Dufu House is a good dining option, even for meatatarians.
