Though most foreign tourists land their first and last step on this island in Taoyuan, few would stop by to have a look over the city. When comparing with other places, Taoyuan is relatively lack of tourism resources. “Thanks to” that, tourists have no need to crowd with others during their journey. Therefore, it would always be a comfortable journey even for the best attractions like historic Chiang’s Cultural Park (兩蔣文化園區) and Lalashan (拉拉山) which has giant trees in thousand years old. Daxi Old Street (大溪老街) is popular as well, but tourists from Mainland China have flooded the place and washed away its flavor. If you want to experience a local holiday afternoon, Tiger Mountain Park is your choice.

Walking uphill from the mountain’s foot, the first place coming across is a park with kids’ beloved swings, slides, wooden huts and dinosaur statues. While children are having fun, parents could sit under shade to enjoy the cool and chat. Beyond the park is Taoyuan Confucius Temple (桃園孔廟). It is smaller than usual ones among urban area in scale and instead provides a quieter environment. Visitors could go upwards via a forest path or a road. The road is neither night market nor shopping district, but you could find stuffs varying from common ones in night market – grilled sausage, pinball, ring tossing game, etc. - to broom, phone case and cobbler here. It might be the last place you could see in Taiwan with such close distance between shopping street and nature. Minglun Sanshen Temple (明倫三聖宮) is at elevation of the city, there are washrooms available for needy public. In front of the parking lot, the statue of Guangong mounting on horse is overlooking on Taoyuan as guarding the city. After families leave as the night coming, lovebirds take the place to see night view of the city and be surrounded by summer breeze.
