If you know a bit of Chinese history, you must have been heard of Zhuge Liang (諸葛亮), a well-known statesman, military strategist and inventor during the Three Kingdoms period. Zhuge Liang, courtesy name Kongming (孔明), dedicated his life to his country and helped Liu Bei (劉備) deal with military and political affairs. The sworn brothers of Liu Bei – Guan Yu (關羽) and Zhang Fei (張飛) – were great at fighting wars, but Liu Bei still needed a military advisor to help him run the country. In order to show his sincerity, Liu Bei paid three humble visits to the thatched cottage of Zhuge Liang, who later decided to accept his offer. Located in the Yuchi Township of Nantou, Zhuge Liang Temple details this famous episode in the fictional Romance of Three Kingdoms (三國演義) for the later generations to ponder over and dream about.

First established in 1901 within a household, Zhuge Liang Temple was officially built up in 1926, venerating Zhuge Liang as its main deity. In 1979, the temple went through a major renovation and became what we see today. As Zhuge Liang has always been known for his vision, passion and intelligence, many exam takers would come to this temple to pray for success. If you have doubts in your mind, why not burn some incense sticks and try to seek the answers from the deity? The fortune slips might clear up all your confusion.
