Taipei 101, the most famous landmark of Taipei City, should be on everyone's Taiwan itinerary. From 2004 until 2010, this giant skyscraper was the world's tallest, and today is noted for being the tallest “green building” in the world, having received the top LEED rating. Designed to look like bamboo and a traditional Chinese pagoda, this 508 meter (1,667 feet) tall building symbolizes the endless spirit of traditional Chinese culture and the evolution of technology. As an international center for business, recreation, culture, and shopping, the multi-function Taipei 101 exceeds any visitor's expectations.

With 101 stories above ground and 5 stories below, Taipei 101 is something of a self-contained city. When it comes to events here, you may be interested in the annual Taipei 101 run-up race (in June) and the world famous fireworks show on New Year's Eve. If you are keen on shopping, the Taipei 101 Mall provides you plenty of international trendy luxury brands, including Louis Vuitton, Dior, Brooks Brothers, and many more. The elegance and cozy atmosphere here will bring you a joyful shopping experience. After shopping, you can take a rest at one of the elegant cafés or indulge yourself at the international food court, which boasts a wide selection of Taiwanese, Western, and Asian delicacies.

As the highest building in Taipei City, Taipei 101's observatory on the 89th floor and outdoor viewing platform on the 91st offer the best panoramic views of the city and encircling mountain ranges. With the high-speed elevator, it takes only 37 seconds to travel from the 5th to the 89th floor. Once there, multimedia tours are available in eight languages, including English, Chinese, Japanese, Cantonese, etc. Built to be one of the most structurally stable buildings ever, you will also have the opportunity to witness the world's largest vibration damper up close.
