Located at the foot of Mt. Guanyin, Bali Left Bank (八里左岸) is a new tourist area in New Taipei City. Just a few minutes ferry ride across the Tamsui River, it is easily accessible from Tamsui Ferry Wharf. Bali Left Bank features a ferry pier, a well-built wooden boardwalk, bike path, spacious grasslands, and sandy beaches. Especially worth mentioning is that there are always mounted police patrols on weekends. Of course you can take some funny photos with them.

The best way to tour around Bali Left Bank is to rent a bicycle. You can easily get one at a bike rental station near the pier where ferries from Tamsui arrive and the rental is inexpensive. The most important thing is that most attractions in Bali, including Watziwei Nature Conservation Area (挖子尾自然保護區) and Shihsanhang Museum of Archaeology (十三行博物館), are just a couple of kilometers away from the Bali Pier. Attractions alone are not the only way to have fun here. It’s particularly enjoyable to experience the great scenic view at the waterfront while riding into the breeze on a bike.

Diverse local delicacies and fancy cafés are also highlights in Bali Left Bank, and their abundance makes grabbing a snack after your activities a real convenience. But do notice that the best time to visit Bali is on weekends, as some shops are closed during the week.
